Senior Medical Editor
Job Duties
- Coordinates with the Director of Sales and the Director of Product Development regarding client-requested topics and determine their prioritization schedule.
- Works with our Medical Advisory Board on drafting and reviewing the text of requested patient education topics.
- Coordinate with internal instructional designers on developing content based on theories of learning and behavioral modifications.
- Edit script written by contributors (physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers) for grammar and style.
- Coordinates with the manager of graphic development regarding the production of needed illustrations and animations for X-Plain tutorials and handouts.
- Reads PEI’s resources as well as stays current on current formatting and writing standards for health literacy.
- Maintains production schedule of more than 20 X-Plain scripts at one time.
- Establish and follow procedures for bypassing and/or substituting contributors who do not deliver their draft/review on time.
- Coordinates with the Editorial Manager and the Medical Director regarding the final approval of X-Plain scripts.
- Coordinates with outside editorial contractors, including translators.
- Enters script approved by our Medical Director into the X-Plain content management system for multimedia production.
- Coordinates with the Manager of Multimedia Development regarding any changes in text during the onscreen review process.
- Coordinate with the Medical Director and medical contributors regarding onscreen reviews and quality assurance.
- Uses our project management system to assign tasks to team members and outside contractors, track costs, and meet deadlines.
- Reports to the Director of Development regarding any budgetary or deadline variations or needed corrections.
- Enhances the metrics we use to estimate the cost and time frame for developing interactive multimedia content based on actual data collected in our project management systems.
- Assists the Editorial Manager in reviewing feedback offered by our clients, contributors, and consumers/patients in order to determine needed enhancements.
- Assist the Editorial Manager in tracking critical and enhancement updates scheduled for X-Plain modules.
Job Requirements
- A bachelor degree in English, communication, or related field.
- 3+ years of editorial experience, medical editorial experience is preferred.
- 1 year experience in managing editorial projects with budgetary and deadline responsibilities.
