"The Joint Commission requires organizations to evaluate a
patient’s comprehension of education materials… The Joint Commission
recommends that evaluating an individual’s patient education program
be done through an interactive, ongoing process."

Education", Joint Commission Resources)
X-Plain Tutorials
An X-Plain tutorial is a highly interactive multimedia presentation that:
simplifies information based on theories of learning and behavior modification;
uses graphics, animations and audio to engage the patient; and
asks questions and gives feedback to verify understanding.
X-Plain tutorials are available through the Internet and through standalone computers that are not connected to the Internet.
All X-Plain tutorials are designed to be operated from a touchscreen system, which makes it possible for patients with no computer experience to touch the screen and use the program. X-Plain tutorials can also be operated using a keyboard, mouse, or the remote control of an interactive TV.
We have published more than 800 X-Plain tutorials. To view a demo of an X-Plain video, click on any library below and select a topic (turn on the speakers and press the right arrow in the self-paced tutorial).
