A solution depends on what the client chooses for content, delivery platform (EMR, patients’ phones, bedside TV, etc.), and services. Over the years, we have developed over 50 solutions that have been field-tested, validated by many clients and are ready for new clients to replicate.

X-Plain Health Encyclopedia for Websites
|
The X-Plain Health Encyclopedia for Websites is designed for hospital websites and health systems. It includes our entire library (+10,000 tutorials, illustrated handouts, and videos), covering all medical specialties.
Nurses can print branded handouts, display the X-Plain videos on bedside TVs, run the tutorials on tablets, or send assignments electronically for patients to complete at home. Patients, caregivers, and health consumers visiting the website can search for specific health topics and learn in the format they choose: video, tutorial, text, or illustrated PDF. This solution is the easiest to implement and can be used anywhere there is internet access, whether at the point of care or beyond. This solution can also increase website traffic and attract new patients. X-Plain for Tablets
|
X-Plain for Tablets is a convenient way to offer X-Plain tutorials or videos to patients at the point of care: examination room, waiting room, or bedside. The nurse searches for the desired topic on the tablet, then gives the tablet to the patient to finish the tutorial (or video).
The client chooses the topics or medical specialty libraries for the tablets. We prepare the account and give the client a password to install the selected videos and tutorials. Once the content is downloaded, the tablet can be used in settings without internet access, which makes this solution ideal for outreach clinics and in-home visits. Implementing X-Plain for Tablets is as simple as downloading the X-Plain mobile app on your Android or iPad tablet. In the app stores, our app is called “X-Plain” for iPads and “X-Plain Pro” for Android devices. You can print handouts, play videos, and run tutorials from the X-Plain for Tablets app to support teach-back. The app can also survey patient satisfaction, print certificates of completion, and report usage metrics. The solution can be used without an internet connection. Updates occur when the tablets are in a Wi-Fi zone. The subscription fee includes our standard services, and it is based on the number of licensed topics. X-Plain for EMRs (Electronic Medical Records)

X-Plain for EMRs integrates with the client’s EMR to suggest patient education materials based on diagnostic coding and other metadata (keywords, gender, age, etc.)
X-Plain's full library of textual materials and discharge instructions are included. Healthcare providers can either print a handout and give it to the patient or send the health topic electronically to the patient's email or patient portal, where the patient can read the text, watch the video, and/or complete the tutorial. The advantage of this solution is the documentation of patient education. X-Plain is a unique patient education solution because it can document in the EMR that the patient has completed the assigned tutorial. This solution requires working with the client’s IT staff to ensure documentation in the EMR. We offer a variety of integrations, from XML files to web services and Infobuttons. The subscription fee, which includes our standard and enterprise services, is based on the number of inpatients/outpatients ($0.12/inpatient) or beds. X-Plain for Patient Portals

X-Plain for Patient Portals gives patients a highly engaging experience through the patient portal, where patients can watch videos and engage with our interactive tutorials.
Clients license the complete X-Plain Health Encyclopedia with all its videos, tutorials, and illustrated textual materials. Patients use their devices (smartphones, tablets, PCs, etc.) to access their patient portal, see X-Plain materials related to their conditions/procedures, or search the encyclopedia for the desired topic. We can work with the client’s IT team to integrate X-Plain with the EMR and patient portal. This allows the education completed on the patient portal to be documented in the EMR. We offer a variety of integrations, from XML files to webservices and Infobuttons. The subscription fee, which includes our standard and enterprise services, is based on the number of inpatients/outpatients ($0.36/inpatient) or beds. X-Plain at the Bedside
|
At the hospital bedside, the patient may have a TV, a tablet, or another patient device for entertainment, food selection, or education. X-Plain is made available through these devices, often by working with the vendor of the edutainment bedside system to provide X-Plain videos.
The client determines the content needed and can choose from over 2,500 videos in several languages. When available on a bedside system integrated with the EMR, the bedside patient station can present videos based on diagnostic and procedure coding. It can also document education. We offer clients and healthcare IT partners many techniques for delivering and updating the video library, from mpg files to webservices and Infobuttons. The subscription fee includes our standard Services and is based on the number of licensed topics, which ranges from $80/topic/year for one topic to $16/topic/year for an extensive library (750 topics or more). X-Plain Patient Education and Documentation System (PEDS)
|
X-Plain Patient Education and Documentation System is for specialty clinics that want to document patient education and adequate informed consent without integrating X-Plain with the EMR or patient portal.
We license the entire library of one (or more) of our specialty libraries (e.g., cardiology, neurosurgery, urology, and 40 more medical specialties). A healthcare provider chooses the topic on any standard device (tablet, PC, laptop, phone), enters the patient ID number, then asks the patient to complete the X-Plain tutorial at the point of care. The X-Plain apps documents education and completion. Alternatively, the tutorial assignment can be sent as a link for the patient to complete at home, where documentation of the education session would still be recorded. This solution includes our standard services plus testimonial services, through which we provide evidence of adequate informed consent in medical malpractice cases related to informed consent. X-Plain Videos
|
X-Plain videos are available for a one-time fee for institutions that want to show patient education videos at the point of care and do not wish to receive content updates or other X-Plain services.
